So I was watching Spiderman with my sons and noticed a few seconds of Macy Gray singing a familiar song which I incorrectly identified as ‘Naughty Nutmeg Fantasy’. Here’s an extended version of the scene with the song:
Turns out the song is called ‘Nutty Nut*meg Phantasy’ and I remember listening to it on the Weapon of Choice album, Nut*meg Sez ‘Bozo the Clown’:
Upon closer inspection, the Macy Gray version is watered-down and vapid. The original’s lyrics are rambling and vaguely revolutionary. Macy’s could be from a Taylor Swift song.
I hope at least that Weapon of Choice got a piece of Macy’s outsized nut.
